Lindy alternatives for Slack teams
Teams look for Lindy alternatives when they want a shared AI coworker in Slack without paying a seat for every @mention, or when the job is preparing briefs and reports rather than writing back to CRMs. Lindy is a capable Slack teammate with scheduled routines and a large app catalog. It is not the only option, and it is not always the cheapest default for a small team that mostly needs status updates, handoffs, and follow-up drafts.
What is Lindy, and who is it for?
Lindy describes itself as an AI teammate that lives in Slack. Its Slack page says you ask in plain language and can repeat the request on a schedule. The Slack catalog includes writes: send a channel message, create a reminder, create a channel.
On Lindy's pricing page (checked October 24, 2026):
- You can start with $50 in free credits and no credit card. Those free credits last 7 days.
- Paid Team usage is billed per active user, from $49.99 a month for 5,000 credits each. Credits pool across the workspace.
- Anyone who uses Lindy takes a seat, including people who only @mention it in Slack. New teammates who join through Slack get a 7-day trial before that seat is billed.
- Actions with outside impact (sending an email, updating a ticket, posting to another channel) wait for approval. Read-only lookups from approved sources do not.
- Lindy states it is SOC 2 and GDPR compliant, and that customer data is not used to train models.
That is a strong product when you want one agent to do work across many apps. It is weaker if a busy channel @mentions it weekly, because each of those people is a billed seat.

Why do Slack teams look for Lindy alternatives?
The usual reasons, based on how Lindy prices and ships Slack today:
- Seat math. Lindy bills every active user. If five people @mention the agent in #client-acme, that is five seats. A credit-priced or free shared coworker does not charge that way.
- Write access vs review. Lindy can send Slack messages and advertise actions in 1,500+ apps. Some teams want that. Others want a read-focused coworker that drafts a brief and waits.
- Setup surface. A large catalog is useful when you need HubSpot writes or computer use. It is extra surface area if you only need Gmail, Sheets, Linear, and GitHub.
- Slack-only teams on a free Slack plan. Lindy works in Slack. So do several alternatives that do not also require a paid Slack plan or a Claude / ChatGPT Business subscription.
None of those are reasons Lindy is "bad." They are reasons a founder or ops lead should compare the job, not the category label.

What does each Lindy alternative actually do in Slack?
Geniusly — shared coworker for briefs, reports, and handoffs
Geniusly reads authorized Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Slack, GitHub, Linear, and Google Ads, then prepares a brief, report, or handoff for review. Apps are read-only by default except an explicit Sheets edit. It does not send Gmail. Anyone in an invited channel can ask. Free plan.
Choose Geniusly over Lindy when the output should be reviewed in Slack. Stay with Lindy for Slack writes, computer use, or a connector Geniusly does not have.

OpenTag — credit-priced shared coworker
OpenTag's llms.txt says anyone in an invited channel can give it work, credits are not per seat, and it waits before it sends, spends, or submits. Team packs start at $50 a month for 10,000 credits. Teams support is listed as coming soon.
Choose OpenTag for one workspace bill that does not grow with every @mention. Choose Lindy for iMessage, inbox, or computer use.

When should you stay with Lindy?
Stay with Lindy, or put it first on the shortlist, when most of these are true:
- You need the agent to take actions in many apps, not only prepare a draft.
- You want scheduled routines that already match Lindy's skill library (inbox, meetings, CRM updates).
- A small set of people will use it, so per-active-user billing stays predictable.
- You want Lindy's stated approval gate on outbound actions, plus its published SOC 2 / GDPR stance.
Lindy fits a small ops pod that wants HubSpot updates and Slack reminders. It is a poor default for a 12-person client channel that only needed a Monday report.
When is a Slack-first AI coworker a better fit than Lindy?
Pick a shared, review-first coworker when the job looks like Geniusly's: pull this week's client email, the tracker in Sheets, and the Linear issues, then post a brief the channel can correct. That is preparation work. Geniusly is built for it, on a Free plan, with a short connector list you can actually audit.
Pick OpenTag when you want that shared-channel model plus a wider integration and model catalog, and you are fine paying for credits instead of seats.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a free Lindy alternative for Slack teams?
Geniusly has a Free plan. Town has a free personal plan with 30 chats a month. Lindy's public free start is $50 in credits for 7 days, not a standing free team plan. Slack AI is included in some paid Slack plans, not on Slack Free.
Does every Lindy @mention cost a seat?
Lindy's pricing FAQ says anyone who uses Lindy takes a seat, including people who @mention it in Slack. New Slack joiners get a 7-day trial. Confirm on lindy.ai/pricing before you roll it out to a large channel.
Can Geniusly do everything Lindy does?
No. Geniusly currently supports Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Slack, GitHub, Linear, and Google Ads, and it prepares work for review. It does not match Lindy's 1,500+ app catalog, Slack write actions, or computer use. See /compare/lindy.
What is the closest Lindy alternative if we want credits, not seats?
OpenTag publishes credit packs that the whole channel shares, starting at $50 a month for 10,000 credits. Viktor also markets workspace credits; check its current site. Geniusly does not sell credits.
Is this the same as the Lindy alternatives for agencies page?
No. /compare/lindy-alternatives-for-agencies is a selection page for agency reporting workflows. This post is the broader Slack-team alternatives list, including seat math and who can direct the agent.
